Windows 10 insider build 15042 for PC was released today to many insiders on fast ring
basis. This build included lot of fixes for the popular bugs like settings app crashing when
clicking devices, unable to pair bluetooth, download progress indicator,etc... But Microsoft
said this windows 10 insider build 15042 has a strange issue that will make your installation
to fail.
If you are seeing windows logo spinning dots rotating for long time, or if your windows 10
boot logo hangs or became unresponsive, then you are more likely experiencing this bug of
installation hanging in windows 10 insider build 15042.
Fortunately, there is a work around for this bug.
Just follow the steps below.. .
1) Shut down your PC manually ( Hold power button for some time like 5 seconds)
2) When your PC restarts, allow it to go back to previous build like 15031 ( The installation
may differ)
3) Open your Command prompt as Administrator and then
4) Type or copy paste the following command and hit enter..
reg delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\setup\upgrade\nsimigrationroot /f
netsh int ipv6 set locality state=disabled
reg delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Nsi\{eb004a01-9b1a-11d4-9123-0050047759bc}\28 /f
